I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, and I bought it used. I want to clean the battery and do other maintenance on the vehicle, but I’ve heard I need some sort of code to reactivate the radio if it is disconnected from the battery. I’ve called the dealer with my model number and serial number located on the top of the actual radio. They all tell me that the serial I have is wrong. The serial number on my radio is a “MR” then six digit number, and it should be MR then a nine digit number. Does anyone have any knowledge to reconcile this discrepancy? Is mine the only radio without the nine digit serial number? I would really like to find a way to get this code. I even called the help telephone number reserved for dealers, and they turned me back to the ignorant dealers saying they can only answer a dealer’s questions. What a f*cked up system to keep the public screwed. So, any ideas why my serial is wrong, if it is in fact wrong?
